The Team behind the Adventures

Artistic Director
Eleanor Johnson (she/her)
Eleanor is a multidisciplinary artist that received her BA from the University of Portland in Drama and History. She is a founding company member of OAT, acting in their first production A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2012. Since then, Eleanor has acted in 14 productions and has directed three summer shows. In 2023, she became the Artistic Director and has continued to grow and expand the company. When Eleanor is not creating theater, she works at a mental health and chemical dependency clinic in Portland helping folks get necessary and life-changing care. In her free time she loves hiking, yoga, camping, traveling, thrifting, and watching good films with her fiance.

Associate Artistic Director
Sam Rice (she/her)
Sam joined the Oregon Adventure Theatre Board as Associate Artistic Director after more than a decade of artistic collaboration with the company. She holds a BA in Theatre from the University of Portland, with a strong background in Commedia dell’Arte. In addition to her theatrical background, Sam brings valuable skills in project management and event coordination from her professional career. Outside of theatre she enjoys backpacking, growing flowers, and hosting dinner parties.

Technical Director
Kate Beldon (she/they)
Kate has had the luck to know and be a part of OAT since 2017 and is so grateful for every minute! Typically a Shakespeare actor around town, she has taken on the role of Technical Director in 2023 for OAT to make sure you see us out in the great outdoors as much as possible and hopes she makes her TD's from college, Tony Petzold of Centralia Community College and Dean Panteja of the University of Idaho, proud. She is so thankful for the fantastic theater community here in Portland and that we have gotten the support of its makers and audience members.

Secretary
Caitriona Johnston (she/her)

Caitriona is an old broad around the boards in her mid twenties with a B.S. in Theatre Arts from Portland State. Having grown weary of performing on the stage, she has since turned her attention toward the more administrative side of the theater. She is now in her third year as Board Secretary for OAT, with three years as Dramaturg. She has since added “Front of Grass” management and props to her illustriously silly resume. Her love of glitter, hot glue, and telling people what to do have served her well in these roles. She is thrilled to be able to support this wonderful company in all the shenanigans that come their way.

Development Director
Samantha Steele (she/her)
Samantha has been a long time audience member of OAT since its inception in 2012. In fact, most of Samantha’s personal theater experience(acting, directing, miscellaneous additional support) past college has been with this company. Her professional experience includes project management, data science, and current work as a data specialist with Oregon’s early childcare professional development registry. Otherwise, Samantha loves dogs, being outside, and movies.

Production Manager
Charles Lattin (He/They)
Charles is a Portland-based artist. He earned his BA in Drama from the University of Portland in 2012 and has been an active contributor to Oregon Adventure Theater (OAT) productions for over a decade. Charles has played many roles at OAT—actor, designer, and a core member of the company’s behind-the-scenes problem-solving team. As Production Manager, he specializes in aligning the company’s artistic goals with practical needs, coordinating logistics to ensure that sets, props, and materials are delivered efficiently and safely. He brings valuable practical and safety skills gained from previous work in industrial and warehouse environments, including past roles at Amazon, Goodyear Tire Company, and Numotion. In addition to his work with OAT, Charles is both a visual and musical artist. He enjoys a creative and quiet life in North Portland.

Community Liaison
Molly Gilbert (She/They)
Molly is a Theatre Practitioner specializing in Shakespeare, ensemble-based devising, voice work, and intimacy direction. After receiving a Masters in Theatre Education from Emerson College of Boston, Molly has been a Teaching Artist for over a decade, teaching with local companies such as Oregon Children’s Theatre, Imagine Theatre, NW Children’s Theatre, and New Moon Productions, reaching thousands of young theatre artists along the way. Molly is also a mother to a wild four year old and an even wilder basset hound mix. Molly is thrilled to be a part of the Oregon Adventure Theatre Board in the position of Community Liaison bringing together her passions for building communities, experiencing the natural world, and Theatre Arts.
